Director of Human Resources (US Remote)

ClearScale is seeking a creative and experienced HR professional to improve and manage Human Resources for our growing global company. The US Director of HR serves as a strategic and tactical business partner to the ClearScale leadership team in HR functions to include recruiting, employee performance management, compensation and benefits, on/off-boarding, learning and development, HR policies creation and development, and promoting ClearScale’s unique corporate culture.

Responsibilities:

Manage the US Talent Acquisition team:

  • Oversee the US recruitment, interview, selection, and hiring processes
  • You will develop meaningful recruiting strategies which promote various methods to source, evaluate, and ultimately hire
  • Enable the team to creatively find and engage candidates
  • Empower the team to build relationships within the industry to identify the right talent and channels to target
  • Manage all offers, including compensation review and approval process

People Management:

  • Manage various US HR activities such onboarding/orientation, terminations, promotions, performance reviews, and policy creation and training
  • Address employee relation issues and provide empathetic conflict resolution
  • Conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations and escalate issues of significance as needed
  • Work closely with all employees to improve working relationships, build morale, support employee development and increase productivity and retention
  • Effectively address components of workplace culture that impede organizational and individual effectiveness
  • Develop and oversee practices to recognize, reward, and appreciate employees
  • Facilitate the implementation of change management initiatives, coaching and partnering with leadership

Employment Law and Policy Creation:

  • Ensures compliance with employment, benefits, insurance, safety, and other laws, regulations, and requirements
  • Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation with knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations to ensure compliance

Compensation and Benefit Management:

  • Researches, develops, and implements competitive compensation, benefits and employee incentive programs
  • Effectively structure benefits programs to attract and retain top talent
  • Lead compensation-related review and design projects
  • Manage the full-cycle of the annual benefits renewal and open enrollment process
  • Understand and manage the full suite of benefits (Medical, dental, vision, STD, LTD, Life Ins, 401k)
  • Manage relationship with external brokers and other key stakeholders

Maintain HR Information and Payroll:

  • Assist with the roll-out and launch of future HR systems
  • Identify ways to continually improve HR systems, processes and effectiveness aligning closely with overseas HR team to ensure a productive, cohesive workforce within the ClearScale global organization

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Business Administration, Human Resources Management or related field
  • 7+ years of relevant HR management experience with similar sized organization
  • You likely are already a "well-rounded" HR practitioner, ideally with a broad background of progressive Human Resources experience covering most of the "chairs" of the function
  • Expertise working with a remote team
  • 5+ years of experience leading and developing HR that supports multiple geographic locations
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations
  • Proven record of implementing processes and change management
  • Thorough knowledge of HR procedures and policies
  • High degree of comfort with systems and technology
  • Great organization and project management skills; the ability to drive for results
  • Demonstrated ability to "see the big picture" and provide strategic advice and input while also executing tactically
  • A thirst and openness for learning; a “can do” attitude
  • Emotional resilience and an ability to think on your feet
  • Technically competent and comfortable using applications like MS Office Suite, Google Workspace, and Slack

Preferred:

  • Master's Degree in Human Resources, MBA, or HR Certifications
  • Startup or early-stage company experience is preferred; accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
  • Experience implementing programs that get business results for the group they served
  • Experience supporting a professional services organization
