Job Summary:

This is a dynamic role with a high emphasis on being self-motivated to solve the task at hand. There is no ‘typical day’ on our Development team as new challenges arise daily. You will ensure that strong development processes are being followed and solutions integrate best-practice architectures. You will take ownership to identify and resolve any gaps in process or applications.

You will work closely with coworkers in our global offices and across multiple time zones on the constantly evolving mission to deliver the most reliable and robust systems in the industry. The team is constantly innovating and adopting new approaches and technologies to improve efficiency and robustness of applications. You will serve as a technical lead for a team of developers and provide architectural insights to our clients.

Project Description:

Your first engagement will be a 2-year-long engagement for a massive migration to AWS. The migration will include re-factoring numerous applications to migrate from Oracle and DB2 to Amazon Aurora. You will be part of the distributed team, responsible for preparing infrastructure, re-hosting applications, re-designing, load testing, migration of high-load applications, workload optimization, and operational support. The development frameworks are a majority Java (Java Spring, Java SpringBoot, JSP using Struts, Scala, Vertx, Golang, and Netty). Other technologies include Kubernetes (EKS), Redshift, Kinesis, Kinesis Analytics, Aurora, DocumentDB, DynamoDB, DB2, Oracle, Mongo, Hadoop/Spark, MSSQL, IIS, Kafka, Elasticsearch, Solr, Redis, Kubernetes, and a few more. You will work directly with our clients’ developers and act as a technical lead for remote team members.

Responsibilities:

• Act as a technical liaison between clients and development teams
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the architecture is aligned with project requirements
• Auditing and analyzing existing client code
• Designing and developing high-volume, low-latency applications for mission-critical systems and delivering high-availability and performance
• Ensure designs are in compliance with specifications
• Contributing in all phases of the development lifecycle
• Writing well designed, testable, efficient code
• Create project documentation (diagrams, architecture design, instructions, handover documents)
• Communications with the customer in English (emails, slack chat, work sessions)

Required Skills and Experience:

• 5+ years hands on experience in software design and development
• Strong Java coding experience is a must.
• Strong background in AWS platform and services. Know their in-born problems and limitations.
• 3+ years hands on experience with cloud-based, infrastructure as a service or platform as a service solutions and principles
• Hands on experience in designing and developing applications using Java frameworks
• Object Oriented analysis and design using common design patterns.
• Profound insight of Java and JEE internals (Classloading, Memory Management, Transaction management etc.)
• Excellent knowledge of Database Technologies, SQL and No-SQL
• Cloud services:  S3, IAM, Kinesis, DynamoDB, SES, IBM Cloudant, Amazon RDS
• Databases: Oracle/DB2/MongoDB/PostgreSQL
• Data: Hadoop/Spark, Kafka, Elasticsearch, Redis 

Preferred Certification’s (not required):

• AWS Certified Developer – (Associate)
• Sun Certified Java Developer
